"When teaching a subject that is not innately appealing, such as grammar, we find it useful to have many tools in the arsenal. Grammarlogues is a useful addition. It provides direct, clear instruction through the software component and assessment through the online component. For kids raised on various "grammar stories" (the fun non-fiction type that teach parts of speech or simple grammar concepts) and grammar songs/videos, this is a logical next step. It picks up where these fun based approaches leave off. My 10 year-old uses the 6th grade road map. At times it is a stretch, but we treat any incorrect answers on assessments as learning opportunities rather than a mark of poor performance.
Pros: there is a lot of content here. The perpetual subscription will continue to be used for years to come and when appropriate, I'll start my younger kids in this program too. The instruction is clear and detailed. The assessments provide a bit of exposure to good literature and may spark an interest in a previously undiscovered book "treasure." Cons: It is not flashy or fun like other programs with songs or videos or entertaining stories, but honestly one reaches a point at which one must simply move on.

| "We love this program. I am using it with my ninth grader but started at the beginning just to be sure we have all the foundation in place. We use it a little differently. I don't consider an assignment complete until it is at least an 80%. He does it over as many times as it takes to reach that goal and usually will surpass it until he gets 100%. It is an add-on and I don't put a lot of weight on it but it is a tool to help improve in his writing for AP Literature. Very pleased with the ease of use, the email notifications and reports to file in portfolio. Nothing negative to report.”
